Last week, our Silicon Valley Korean School held an event to commemorate the March 1st Independence Movement. Student volunteers dressed as independence activists marched through the school, shouting, “Long live the independence of Korea!” while students waved the Taegeukgi flag and cheered. Younger students also sang the national anthem and made Taegukgi flags, while older students competed in a history and culture quiz contest.

지난주, 저희 실리콘 밸리 한국학교에서는 3·1절 독립기념일을 기념하는 행사를 개최했습니다. 독립운동가 복장을 한 학생들이 학교를 행진하며 “대한독립만세!"를 외쳤고, 학생들은 태극기를 흔들며 환호했습니다. 저학년 학생들은 애국가를 부르고 태극기를 만들었으며, 고학년 학생들은 역사와 문화 퀴즈 대회에 참가했습니다.

Happy late Korean American Day! Korean American Day is celebrated annually on January 13th, marking the 1903 arrival of the first Korean immigrants in Hawaii and honoring the significant cultural, economic, and societal contributions of Korean Americans to the United States.
