The Associated Student Government of Santa Clara is looking for Students to join the Student Senate. We're looking for 8 At-Large Senators, 3 Senior Senators, a Pro-Tempore, and a Parliamentarian. Applications are due this Monday (May 11th). You can apply via this link: https://forms.gle/Q35qhKyXg5WQQDJg6.
At-Large Senators represent, advocate, and work on projects for specific groups within the University. Traditionally, there's been At-Large Senators for Diversity and Inclusion, Health and Wellness, LGBTQ+ Inclusion, and Commuter/Transfer Students. The groups they represent can also include First-Generation Students, Greek Life, Entrepreneurship, Civic Engagement, Athletic Relations, Career Development, and any other subset of the student body that you can think of. If there's a specific group on campus that you think would benefit from access to ASG resources like quicker access to funding, easier access to admin, and greater reach to students, apply to be an At-Large Senator!
Senior Senators represent the Class of 2021. If you're going to be a rising senior you want to represent your class or facilitate solutions to problems that you have faced over the past three years now's your chance! The Pro-Tempore traditionally prepares and distributes minutes. Next year they'll also be tasked with aggregating and disseminating pertinent information that ASG has access to to the student body such as the effects of the coronavirus on SCU, RSO Funding, and other news from the University Administration. The Parliamentarian traditionally holds Senators accountable. Next Year, they'll also be tasked with fostering community within Senate and distributing ASG Resources and Committee Labor to solving key issues on campus.
