🇲🇼 Meet Thandi Chisi, Miss Malawi 2025.
Recently named one of Wealth Magazine Malawi's 100 Influential Women for 2025, Thandi is using her platform to champion education, youth empowerment, and opportunities for women and girls.
Her recognition reflects a growing appreciation for women leaders who are shaping their communities—not only through visibility, but through advocacy, service, and impact.
At Mercy Beyond Borders, we celebrate role models like Thandi, whose leadership helps young women envision what is possible for their own futures.

Celebrating the wins 🎉 🎉 🎉
"This time around, no one is telling our story — we are the ones telling it." 💬
In South Sudan, women aren't waiting for a seat at the table. They're building their own.
400+ women from all 10 states just reunited at the National Women's Conference — dormant since 2009 — to organize for the 2026 elections. Women are being trained in electoral law, public speaking, and campaign strategy. Young women are asking for the first time: "Can I really stand for office?"
That shift in mindset? That's the win.
At MBB, we've always believed education doesn't just change one life — it builds nations. When you invest in a girl, you invest in a nation. 🌍

When Women Lead, Peace Follows: The Transformative Power of Supporting Women’s Political Participation in South Sudan
In South Sudan, a nation where peace has long remained fragile and democratic progress uncertain, women are stepping forward to shape the future of their country. Long excluded from the corridors of power, they are forging their own movement for lasting change.

🏥💙 MBB alumnae are helping shape the future of healthcare in Malawi.
More than half (56%) of Mercy Beyond Borders University alumnae in Malawi have pursued careers in healthcare, becoming nurses, health professionals, and advocates in communities where access to quality care can change lives.
As Malawi continues strengthening its healthcare system, these young women are putting their education into action—improving health outcomes, serving their communities, and helping build a healthier future for the next generation. 🇲🇼✨

🌍💛 Today is Global Day of Parents, designated by the UN to recognize the selfless commitment parents and caregivers make to nurturing and supporting their children.
MBB is proud to be considered not just a source of support, but a partner by many of our Scholars’ families. We know that investing in a girl’s education is an investment not only in her future, but also in the future of her family, community, and society as a whole. 📚✨
We couldn’t do this work without the trust, encouragement, and reciprocal support of our Scholars’ families. Today, we celebrate and thank the parents and caregivers who champion their daughters’ dreams and help make their education possible. 💕🌱
It truly takes a village. 💫🏡

💡📚🌍 MBB’s work does not begin and end within classroom walls. It accompanies our Scholars from the beginning of their day, well into the night. 🌅✨
Something as simple as a solar lamp, provided to many Scholars through the generosity of our donors, lights Akech Martha’s path as she goes to fetch water before dawn and makes it possible for her to study after the sun has set. 🌙📖
In the words of her step-mother:
"I am grateful that MBB supports Akech Martha in school. Otherwise, she would have to join me in the market to make a meager living.”

For the past five years, Nancy Apio Alesio has been helping girls at St Bakhita Girls Primary School in Narus, South Sudan, build confidence and skills.
As MBB's ICT instructor and Scholarship Assistant, she also mentors girls navigating immense challenges, including forced marriage escapees. 📚
“The fact that many girls are now in school and more are graduating gives me hope.” 🌍

🌍💙 MBB believes that by uplifting girls and women through the power of education, by extension, their families will also have increased access to education and economic opportunity.
Millions of families worldwide continue to face barriers that limit opportunity and deepen inequality, but MBB remains committed to changing this one Scholar at a time, and we believe that eventually that ripple effect will become a tidal wave. 🌊🌊🌊

At Mercy Beyond Borders, we know what can occur when possibility and potential intersect.
This is why we began our work in Kenya, specifically in Kakuma Refugee Camp where South Sudanese refugees are the majority of the population. Here, MBB provides scholarships for girls to go to school.
🌱📚Because when girls get access to education in places like this, it creates momentum that communities can build on for generations.
