For the past three weeks, a group of AEON students dove headfirst into an immersive, cross-cultural learning experience through Global Journeys—a program that creates opportunities for students to explore the world, develop new perspectives, and build friendships with global peers.

Students traveled to Shenzhen, China, to explore themes of empathy, advocacy, and sustainability—anchored by a co-lab project focused on a local issue with significant implications for animal welfare and public health: finding innovative solutions to the city's stray cat population (estimated at over 50 million).

Highlights included:
• Collaborating with students and teachers from the International School of Beijing and Avenues Shenzhen ✈️🌏📚
• Interviewing experts, supporting fieldwork at local tech firms and art villages, and touring local museums🎙️🖼️🏙️
• Developing artifacts—zines, games, and smart shelter models—using tech tools and creative mediums 💻🐈📖
• Participating in local traditions, from tea ceremonies to paper cutting, and exploring unique locales such as hiking Tanglang Mountain 🫖⛰️💮

We’re so proud of how our students show up with curiosity, courage, and care. Here's to an unforgettable Global Journey!

Meet Katie: A Grade 11 student at AEON School in Silicon Valley who has spent her spring semester interning at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York while simultaneously completing her junior year.

As Katie explains, being a student at AEON provides the time and flexibility to pursue personal passions while receiving a world-class education. With our global classrooms accessible from anywhere with a Wi-Fi connection, students can engage in meaningful real-world experiences—like internships, competitive sports, or travel—without missing class time or losing connection with faculty and peers.

We’re incredibly proud of Katie for thriving at AEON while embracing this unique opportunity, and we can’t wait to share more inspiring student success stories!

In celebration of Earth Day today, we're featuring an interdisciplinary project from our students in grades 5–12: A biosphere, which is a self-sustaining habitat that can support plant life in extreme environments.

By researching what plants need to survive and learning how ecosystems function, students are exploring real-world issues related to our environment, climate change, and how science and engineering can be applied in service of sustaining various forms of life on Earth or elsewhere in the cosmos. 🪴☀️🌎

Happy Earth Day!

Join us for a special in-person event on Thursday, April 10, at 5:30 p.m. PT at our Silicon Valley campus! This conversation will engage Dr. Jonathan Jiang, a Senior Research Scientist at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (), in a thoughtful dialogue about his experience creating a new interstellar message that will follow in the footsteps of the infamous Golden Record.

We will host a moderated discussion with Miranda, a grade 10 student at AEON School, to highlight the work of students who are partnering with Jon Lomberg to create their own Golden Record 2.0 (.0). This portion of the event will focus on the ways in which students can develop real-world experience through such collaborations.

RSVP at the link in our bio. 📆🚀📩

Happy Pi Day! Today we celebrate the important and mysterious number pi, a mathematical constant that represents the ratio of a circle’s circumference to its diameter.
For thousands of years, the world’s greatest mathematicians such as Fibonacci, Newton, Leibniz, and Gauss have toiled over pi. They have used it in calculations, unlocked algorithmic approaches for calculating pi, and found innumerable ways to apply the irrational number in mathematical and scientific applications.
We invite you to examine the ways in which pi might fuel your curiosity about mathematical concepts and the world at-large today, or to enjoy your favorite baked pie to celebrate!

This month, we're introducing our Month of Math series, featuring perspectives on problem-based math, math inquiry, and how learning the history of math can inspire students to engage in modern interpretations.

Here, AEON School curriculum designer Carmel Schettino shares how problem-based learning invites students to actively participate in math lessons and explore math problems with a sense of curiosity and confidence.
