Wanna get strong? -

Wanna get strong? Then you probably know how I’ve been feeling since I took my first Functional Range Conditioning course in 2020. After a decade of teaching and practicing yoga, I got to fall in love with movement all over again from a completely new perspective. FRC changed my understanding of anatomy and how we ...

Spent our Saturday with learning simulclimbing, short pitching & short roping.

I’ve got an alpine ticklist a mile long, but speed is not our strong suit, so Mynor and I needed to learn some ways to move quickly and safely over easy 5th class terrain.

The first half of this year for me has been hugely educational, from the safety course, to snow travel with , to this weekend with Alex. A lot of climbing accidents happen when people have just enough knowledge to get outside, but not enough to get out of (or prevent) a sticky situation. Taking a class or hiring a guide is a great way to make sure you’ve got all the tools you need - and a good guide will be more up to date on best practices than your old friend Bob who soloed El Cap in the ā€˜80s. No offense Bob.

Maybe it’s kinda weird to put so much time and effort into a hobby, but I feel so much more competent in the mountains now, and I can’t wait for Sierra season to officially begin!

Spent the weekend following Myrriah up a couple of classic RR multipitch routes!

Did my first SCMA eval on Olive Oil (pic 2) and had so much fun we went back for Frogland (1 & 3).

Big thanks to for the campsite, and the ability to connect with super experienced trad mentors. Can’t wait for round two!

When I woke up and looked at the date this morning, it caught me off-guard.

Usually I can feel it coming for weeks, but I was so wrapped up in planning for Red Rocks that I forgot.

It’s been 8 years since I lost my dad to Parkinson’s. And the grief does dull a little, but man, I wish I could remember the sound of his voice. I wish he could meet Mynor and see our house. I wish I could take him climbing. My life is the best it’s ever been, and he doesn’t get to be here for it.

And I’m sad, but I also know he’d be freaking stoked to know he raised a little hippie rockhugger. He was a teacher, an athlete, an outdoorsman, an animal lover, an obsessive overplanner…and I think I get a little bit more like him every year.

So cheers, Papa Bear, and I hope you’re in another galaxy somewhere catching waves.

It’s a beautiful day for a multipitch!

Got to play on 3 new (to me) lines today, including this 10a. Sent the first two no problem, took a few whippers above the first bolt on the last one and gave up šŸ¤·šŸ¼ā€ā™€ļø It’s always a win just getting outside.
