Wishing everyone a happy holiday season! 💙
During week 10, the team at the REEF took a break from studying for finals to participate in our annual “White Elephant Seal.”🦭 It was a great time to celebrate all the hard work by these Informal Science Educators throughout the year. They are all sea stars and we truly couldn’t have done it without them! 🤩
Thank you to all those who have visited and supported us this year. We’re looking forward to a fin-tastic 2024! 🦈

At the REEF we are inspired by the Channel Islands, which are the islands located right off of UCSB’s coast! Our Channel is a special part of Our Maritime Community as the Channel Islands hold 281 endemic species, which means that they can’t be found anywhere else in the world. The Chumash people and their story are strongly linked with the island and its resources, such as the pictured black abalone. What is your favorite way to explore Our Channel?
