The environment in which students learn matters.
I created my Santa Barbara office as a supportive space where students can slow down, think deeply, ask meaningful questions, and work through mathematics at their own pace.
Here, mistakes become part of the learning process, and productive struggle creates opportunities for deeper understanding.
My goal is for students to leave each session feeling more confident about learning and doing math.

One of the things I value most about Santa Barbara is its sense of balance.
There is a spaciousness here that reflects something I believe deeply about learning: meaningful progress is non linear. It takes time and patience. Mathematics asks students to think, question, revisit, and persevere.
Often, the most significant growth emerges gradually—one thoughtful step at a time where pause time is cherished.

Individualized mathematics instruction should work naturally within a student’s academic life and a family’s schedule.
I offer sessions in my downtown Santa Barbara office and online, providing flexibility while maintaining the same level of engagement, attention, and academic rigor in either setting. In-home sessions are also available for families in the Santa Barbara and Montecito area for an additional fee.
Whether we are working across the table, in a student’s home, or online, each session creates space for questions, mathematical exploration, and meaningful progress.

Effective SAT and ACT preparation begins with helping students develop mathematical reasoning, strategic problem-solving, pacing, and the composure to make sound decisions under timed conditions.
I tailor each preparation plan to help students identify patterns in performance and refine test taking strategies that will make the greatest difference in math scores. The goal is a solid intentional program that allows students to approach test day with readiness and self-assurance.

🎉 PERFECT 800 SAT MATH SCORE! 🎉

One of my Santa Barbara students at San Marcos High School earned a perfect 800 on the Math SAT!

We worked together throughout the summer with focus, consistency, and tremendous dedication. This is what can happen when strong mathematical instruction meets a student who is willing to commit to the work.

Each student approaches mathematics with a distinct way of thinking, reasoning, and making connections. My instruction begins there. I meet students exactly where they are regardless of ability.
Drawing on my Ph.D. in Mathematics Education and more than 36 years as an educator, I design each session around the individual learner—strengthening conceptual understanding, mathematical reasoning, and the ability to approach increasingly complex ideas with assurance.
The work extends beyond a single assignment. It is about developing a mathematical foundation and ways of thinking that continue to serve students as they advance.
