From preclinical research on rare neurodegenerative diseases to oncology sales, Alpha Delta Pi alumna Kelli DesRochers ’20 has followed her curiosity through a career pivot and into work that directly impacts patients. 💙

Today, Kelli works at Tempus AI, helping connect patients with more precise, personalized treatment options. While the field is constantly evolving, she says seeing the impact of her work on patients makes the challenge worth it.

Her advice to current UCSB students is simple: don’t let a first job or a lack of “perfect” experience hold you back. “You could take any job that you’ve done and make it relevant to a job that you want.” That mindset traces back to her time as alumni chair for Alpha Delta Pi at UCSB, where she helped revive the chapter’s alumni newsletter simply because she believed in it.

From founding and leading Phi Sigma Rho at UCSB to taking her engineering degree from aerospace all the way to consulting, Dana Yuen '19 has never stopped reaching for what's next. ✨

Dana studied mechanical engineering at UCSB before landing at Northrop Grumman in LA, where she worked on aerospace systems and contributed to the James Webb Space Telescope. When an offhand comment from her senior capstone project sparked her interest in consulting, she took the leap and joined Deloitte, where she now works in technology strategy and recently stepped into management, trading technical work for leading and growing her team.

As a founding member and former president of Phi Sigma Rho at UCSB, community has always been at the core of who Dana is. She stays connected to Greek life today as a member of her national sorority's judicial board, and her advice to current Gauchos reflects everything she has learned along the way: "Your time at UCSB is also well spent invested in things outside of the classroom."

A Delta Tau Delta alumnus, Austin Sutter ’23’s UCSB journey took him from economics to physics to mechanical engineering...

A Delta Tau Delta alumnus, Austin Sutter ’23’s UCSB journey took him from economics to physics to mechanical engineering, and ultimately to a position as a civilian engineer at Edwards Air Force Base, a job that he landed through a UCSB career fair. ✈️

Austin's work focuses on aircraft subsystems designed to detect and counter threats, requiring him to solve problems where the threats themselves aren't always fully known. He says one of the most rewarding parts of the job is collaborating across military and civilian teams, from pilots and flight test engineers to program managers.

Beyond his technical skills, Austin credits UCSB and Greek Life with helping him build the communication skills he uses every day. Greek Life taught him to “network and talk to a variety of people,” allowing him to bridge the gap between engineers, aircrew, and leadership. His advice to current Gauchos is to build a strong core group within your major, pursue the work you actually want to do, and don't let the “golden handcuffs” of a high starting salary dictate your future.

A brother of Phi Gamma Delta and current Assistant Dean of Development for UCSB's Graduate Division, John Lofthus '00, M.Ed. '02, has been a longtime champion of Greek Interconnect!

Before Greek Interconnect became the event it is today, John helped launch GreekFest in 2012, where Greek alumni return to campus for All Gaucho Reunion. He later connected the alumni who would build on that momentum and transform GreekFest into today's career-focused Greek Interconnect. 💼

John knows firsthand why those connections matter. He believes that “if you don't have a network, that's a big hole.” For him, Greek Interconnect gives students a chance to see what's really out there and what's possible, all while building relationships with alumni across industries.
