It's National Walk and Roll to School Day! 🚸 Today we're celebrating students and families who walk, bike, roll, and take transit to school. Our Education team teaches students year-round how to get to school safely.

Drivers: please slow down and stay alert near schools today and every day. Families are out there! 🚗

Stay tuned to see who turned out for this year's event. 👀

For the first time, we're turning Walk and Roll to School Day into a countywide contest for students in TK through 12th grade. Help your PTA win a gift card. 🚸

The goal is simple: sign up, show up, and help your school win bragging rights as the one with the most walkers and rollers. We'll tally the numbers and see how Santa Barbara County stacks up alongside other counties across California and the rest of the country. Let's do this! 🌟

📅 When: Your school will celebrate on one day during the week of October 5-9. Check with your school to confirm its date.

✏ How to join: Visit MoveSBcounty.org/walknroll or scan the QR code. (Takes 2 minutes)

Teaching the next generation how to walk safely is how we keep the 805 safe.

This CA Pedestrian Safety Month, let's prepare our community for Walk and Roll to School Day by sharing safety tips on your way to school.

When you cross a street, always:

Stop at the curb. Look left, right, then left again — and check behind and ahead for turning vehicles.🚗
Keep watching for vehicles the whole time you're crossing. 👀
Take your time. Safety always comes first. ⏰
Parents: talk to your kids about each step as you go. 🚸

About Linda:
Meet Dr. Linda, PhD., but her friends just call her...Linda. While she may not be a real woman, she is a real doctor as she has a PhD from UCSB in Quantitative Biology. In addition to being a genius, she is also the host of the monthly drag show BARBARA at EOS lounge every second Friday, follow for more information, and is one of the co-founders and former president of UC Santa Barbara's Drag Club ( ). She is positively honored to be the queen of honor for this inaugural event as it combines her favorite things: sitting down, looking gorgeous and starting new q***r traditions in her local community.

Join us as we kick off the Pride festivities with a community bike ride and then come see Linda slay the stage at the Pacific Pride Festival at 2pm! Can't wait to see y'all and happy Pride!
