Hey all! So looks like we need 100 followers in order to livestream this year's recital. Would you invite friends to follow this page and see if we can get there?
I have so many other logistics to work through, I am just going to put this post out there and trust.
If we get to 100, my mama can watch our recital. I would love if you could help us get there! Do it for Mama! ๐

The combo is comprised of some incredible facilitators from the local Music & Imagination program put on by the Turner Foundation. We are so grateful they are collaborating with us, and we want to make sure these wonderful humans are compensated for their fantastic musicianship. ๐ฅฐ

This picture CRACKS me up!!!
I was taking some promo images for our upcoming recital, and one of my students begged to turn the camera on me.
She snapped this photo, and her reaction was, and I quote, "Oooh, this one actually ATE! ...oh wait..."
๐๐คฃ๐๐คฃ๐๐คฃ๐๐คฃ
She wasn't wrong. It looks like a pretty great photo. But the more you zoom in, the funnier it gets.
You are so very welcome. Life is way too short to take yourself too seriously. ๐

Appreciation.
A few months ago, a precious wee student of mine gave me this gift for teacher appreciation week. The gift was so very, very thoughtful, but the best part was her attempt at containing her excitement to give it to me.
I could feel the butterflies in her tummy as she hid these two items behind her back. And the glee she felt as she presented them to me... yep...
(Tucks the memory in my Heart pocket) ๐ฅน
I took a big step this month with my business and with that big step, current and former students began to leave reviews on my business pages.
I know I'm a sap, but I was still surprised at how emotional it has been to read those reviews.
It is such a personal, vulnerable relationship between student and facilitator, the magnitude of which is not lost on me (my beloved will love that line ๐) To be part of someone creating a direct connection to this magic called music is one of the greatest Joys of my Life.
I don't do it for the appreciation. I really don't. But reading those expressions of Love and acknowledgement of how special our journey together has been... goodness...

A Student of Life.
Last month I had the opportunity to learn from some titans in the world of choral and vocal music at the YPC National conference. I attended masterclasses and workshops alongside fellow choral directors from around the nation.
Intellectually, my favorite classes were with the fantastic voice pedagogue Shanelle Woods, but my absolute favorite experience was in a conducting masterclass where one of my fellow classmates was a young man who navigates life without the sense of sight. He was there to learn how to musically communicate with his body, even though he had no reference point himself as to what that looks like.
If you know you know. I got about halfway through the piece he was conducting before being overwhelmed by the energy of the moment and proceeding to ugly cry. ๐
This young man wasn't in his head overanalyzing what he looked like. He conducted straight from his Heart center, and those of us singing for him responded accordingly. Magic. Pure magic. I will forever hold that experience in my Heart pocket. ๐ฅน
Sing by Heart, friends. Always sing by Heart. And if you get the chance to conduct? Do that by Heart too. โค๏ธ
