Happy Tuesday: Marine Science Edition!
Check out these bioluminescent fish! These jellyfish (top), anglerfish (middle), and other bioluminescent deep sea creatures (bottom) live in areas of the ocean with no sunlight. In order to attract prey and to scare away predators, their bodies create their own light. This light is called bioluminescence.

Did you know that there is a correlation between increased academic performance and gratefulness? Students who remind themselves of what and who they are thankful for often achieve higher grades and are better able to focus in school.
Today, we invite you to remind yourselves of why you are grateful. Try out one (or several 😊) of our gratitude activities and let us know in the comments what you are thankful for!

Happy Thursday, where we highlight teachers, researchers, and students who have changed the way we think about education.
This week, we commemorate education researcher Marie Clay. Clay created Reading Recovery, a literacy program designed to ensure that all learners, regardless of ability, interest, and socioeconomic status, are able to read. Since Clay created Reading Recovery in the 1970s, the program has helped more than 1 million children to read in New Zealand, Australia, Canada, the United States, England, Ireland and Bermuda.
Like Clay, we at Inspiring Ivy believe that all people can learn whatever they set their minds to, and that it is the teacher's job to help them realize this.
