We are thrilled to share that Sonia Camarena was honored at last night’s SAUSD Board of Education meeting as December’s District-wide Classified Employee of the Month!!!!!!!! Sonia was selected by the administrative team at her school, Greenville Fundamental. The school administration had this to say about Sonia:
“Sonia is an exceptional individual, demonstrating an extraordinary level of dedication and care in her role. Her commitment to putting the students first and creating a welcoming environment for all students is truly admirable. Her proactive approach in establishing positive connections and her consistent display of kindness and compassion are invaluable. Sonia's effort to know each of the 875 students she works with on a daily basis is remarkable. It's not only a testament to her dedication but also to her genuine interest in the well-being and success of every student she encounters. Her continuous display of positivity and willingness to engage with both students and staff is undoubtedly creating a supportive and nurturing atmosphere within the school. Her actions reflect not just a job responsibility but a genuine passion for making a positive impact on the lives of those around her. Nominating Sonia for her unwavering kindness and dedication is a small acknowledgment of her exceptional contributions to the school community. She is a true asset and an inspiring role model for others. Please join me in congratulating Ms. Sonia Camarena.”
Congratulations on this well-deserved recognition! Keep on shining, Sonia!

Congratulations to our first graduating cohort of the 23/24 year in our culinary training program designed for our Nutrition Services Team. This year, we are so grateful to introduce Jacob Rojas as our instructor. Jacob did a great job providing the knowledge and skills to help our team feel more confident in our kitchens as we progress in our cooking from scratch efforts. Way to go, Team! We are so proud of you all! Thank you to our partners at Santa Ana College, Culinary Arts Department for helping us make this happen!

The SAUSD Board of Education has adopted a resolution proclaiming October 2023 as National Farm to School Month.
National Farm to School Month recognizes SAUSD’s commitment to promoting healthy eating habits, supporting local farmers, strengthening our local economies, and fostering a sustainable and resilient food system.
National Farm to School Month is also about creating new connections through food, as students, families, farmers, and the community become involved in their local food system.
