Teacher appreciation Mother’s Day
Comment “game board” and I’ll send you a copy! 🌟 You know that quote: “when you focus on the good, the good gets better” (Abraham Hicks) ? Well the same goes for behavior. I have found that tracking positive, rather than negative, behavior has made all the difference in my classroom. This Goal Getter’s Game Board is what works for my students. I tailor them to the student’s interests, if you saw the examples at the end you saw Dinos, D.J.ing, and Legos, we come up with a plan together and “play” our game throughout each school.
Any questions about how I use this in my classroom? Ask away 👇🏻
👩🏼🏫 You thought I was going to mention flash cards didn’t you!? Let me know in the comments if you want a part ✌🏻 or if you have any school readiness questions, I’m here to help!
These three things have made my classroom SO MUCH MORE CALM. And a calmer classroom is a much more manageable space🥰☀️!
Here are some more deets on these simple strategies ⬇️
☝🏻 Whispering: I whisper when I’m reading books and the story is building. I walk over to a table and whisper to a few students when the class is loud and they all stop to hear what “secret” im sharing😂. I whisper when Im starting to lose a few kiddos on the carpet during a lesson. I whisper directions as we line up to set the tone for a quiet line.
✌🏻 Visual Timers: whether you buy the physical one I have, or play one online (there are so many on YouTube), visual timers are a great way to help students understand how much time they have left on a task, especially if they don’t understand the concept of time yet! Disclaimer- I’ve had a few that hyper focused on the timer so we had to have some discussions about how to use it!
🤟🏻 Breathing: deep breaths together has CHANGED my dynamic with my students. Instead of adding to the noise or the chaos, I’m centering them in calm and it feels so much better than clapping and chanting at them!
