Today is the National Online Forensics Tournament and we want to wish all competitors good luck!! We know they will do an amazing job, and we are already so proud of our students!! ✨

We had an awesome time hosting our most recent tournament, the ACLA May 2022 In-House Tournament. We had students from schools all over Irvine, Los Alamitos, Tustin and Huntington Beach join us to showcase their skills in Original Narrative, SPAR Debate, Impromptu, and Informative speaking. We are so proud of our competitors and are looking forward to see what is in store for our next tournament.

As ACLA prepares for our final tournament of the 21-22 school year, we are reminded of one of our 5 habits of a competent communicator: projection - speaking loudly but not yelling. At ACLA we encourage all of our students to use their voices to share their words and ideas, because even while young, they are worthy of being heard. We also encourage debate through constructive argumentation that challenges ideas, rather than destructive argumentation which challenges and attacks people. We are so proud of all of our students, and are looking forward to seeing them for our 5/13/22 tournament!!

We had a blast hosting the IPSF Fall Speech and Debate Tournament. Students competed in Original Narrative, SPAR Debate, and Storytelling. Our keynote speaker Professor Edwin Tiongson of Irvine Valley College, provided an inspirational message for our young competitors who are beginning their journey to becoming future leaders.

First practice of the season for CT Speech and Debate. These future leaders are starting the season strong! Thanks Coach Robert and Coach Sana for a great first day.

🔹This week, all late winter classes are being wrapped up! 🔹This session was structured differently — the last class was a mini tournament where students were judged by other coaches.
💭It was a fun class as this was the first time most students were competing against their peers!
