Back to School Night has been rescheduled to Thursday, September 24, 5:00 - 7:00 pm. This will be a regular school day. Middle School dismissal will be at 2:50pm with after-school care from 2:50-5:00pm. High School dismissal will be at 3:50pm. Families are invited to bring a store-bought item to share in a potluck-style setting. Before arriving, please take a moment to review your student’s class schedule. During Back-to-School Night, families will follow their student’s schedule. See you then! ⭐️🏫📚🍎

Our school community had an amazing Spirit Week, and the assembly was the perfect way to celebrate with plenty of energy, school spirit, and FUN! 💥🙌

“Hi! My name is Mr. Batstone. I’m excited to join the NOVA team this year as an English and ELD teacher. ELD is my favorite subject to teach. I was born in Canada, and have lived in Ghana, Cameroon and Guatemala (for 2 months, to learn Spanish). I’ve taught in Compton, Downtown LA and Garden Grove. I’ve taught History, English and ELD. I love playing volleyball, soccer, and jogging and hiking. Excited to get to know our new students.”

“Hi! My name is Valerie, and I’m very excited to be joining the NOVA Academy team. I have several years of experience working in education and supporting students, and I truly enjoy creating a positive and safe environment where students can learn, grow, and feel supported. I’m excited to join NOVA because I’m looking forward to getting to know the students and staff, building new relationships, and becoming part of the school community. “Hello, my name is Zach. I have a Bachelor’s in Kinesiology and a Master’s in Coaching. I am the PE Aide and boys coach for cross country, basketball, and volleyball. I like reading, running, binge watching shows and hanging out with friends.”

“Hi! I’m Ms. Barry, and I’m excited to be teaching 6th grade this year. I graduated from California State University, Fullerton with a Bachelor’s degree in Liberal Studies and earned my California Multiple Subject Teaching Credential. I love creating an engaging, supportive classroom where every student can grow academically and personally. Sixth grade is my favorite grade to teach, so I’m especially excited to work with this year’s students. Outside of the classroom, I enjoy reading, golfing, and spending time at the beach. I look forward to getting to know my students and making this a fun, memorable, and successful school year!”

“My name is Ms. Lopez and for the past few years, I have been a stay-at-home mom. This past year I was able to volunteer in my daughter’s TK class and that reignited my passion for helping students, especially with motivation to try their best and never give up. I look forward to getting to know the students here at NOVA and to helping create a supportive environment! Some of my interests include crime/mystery podcasts, novels by Frieda McFadden, and Marvel TV shows/ movies.”

“Hello, I have a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from Cal State LA and a master’s degree in Education from Western Governors University. I am originally from Vietnam, and I enjoy playing soccer. In my free time, I also value quiet moments to relax, reflect, and think. I find that taking time to slow down helps me think more clearly and make better decisions.”
