🦕🦖This week the children went back in time to the jurassic period. The preschool children made hand-painted dinosaurs, danced to dinosaur songs, rescued dinosaurs from ice, and went to a field trip to Tanaka Farms! The children tasted many different kinds of melons such as yellow watermelon, seedless watermelon, and more.
🌱I am a MIA elementary graduate (2020) and I have been creating MIA summer school’s Insta Post. It is so great to be back as a intern! This summer is coming to end but I had a wonderful time making posts for the MIA community! See you next year!
🦕🦖今週、子どもたちはジュラ紀へとタイムスリップしました！
手形アートで恐竜を作ったり、恐竜の歌に合わせてダンスを踊ったり、氷の中から恐竜を救出する遊びを楽しみました。夏の最終日はタナカファームへの遠足にも出かけました！そこでは、黄色いスイカや種なしスイカなど、たくさんの種類のメロンやスイカの食べ比べを体験し、沢山の思い出で夏を締めくくりました！

🌱夏の投稿を担当していたのは、私！2020年MIA小学校の卒業生です。投稿を作成でき、とても素晴らしい時間を過ごすことができました！こうしてインターンとして戻ってこられたことを本当に嬉しく思っています。それでは、また来年お会いしましょう！🐞

【日本のお祭りWeek！🏮✨】
今週のサマースクールは、日本の夏の風物詩を五感で楽しむ特別な一週間でした。
冷たくて甘い「かき氷」に、みんなで大盛り上がりした「スイカ割り」。「美味しい！」と大喜びでスイカを頬張る子どもたちの笑顔が弾けました。
そして最終日のフィナーレは、待ちに待った盆踊り！
小学生が力強く奏でる和太鼓の音が響き渡るなか、浴衣や甚平、はっぴに身を包んだ子どもたちが大集合。みんなで心を一つに「東京音頭」を踊りました。
日本ならではの伝統や文化に触れ、毎日夢中になって楽しんだ子どもたち。この夏の最高の思い出になりました。

【Japanese Festival Week! 🏮✨】
Our summer school students had an incredible week experiencing the magic of a traditional Japanese summer with all five senses!
The kids loved the sweet, refreshing shaved ice (Kakigori) and had an absolute blast with the watermelon-splitting game. Smiles were everywhere as they happily munched on delicious, juicy watermelon! 🍉🍧
The grand finale on the final day was the highly anticipated Bon Odori dance! Ready in their beautiful Yukata, Jinbei, and Happi, all the children gathered together. Moving as one, they danced the “Tokyo Ondo” to the powerful, live beats of the Taiko drums played beautifully by our elementary children. 🥁👘
By immersing themselves in Japan’s unique traditions and culture, the children stayed completely captivated and energized every single day. It has truly become the ultimate highlight of their summer!
Thank you to everyone who joined us for all the wonderful smiles. We can’t wait to welcome everyone back for another amazing week of summer school! ☀️✨

🫧🧪The World of “Why”?🧪🫧
This week, the children dove into a bubbly world of science! The preschool children launched rockets, took notes on color-changing flowers, mixed water and oil, and even made slime out of cornstarch and water! The elementary children learned about gravity and centrifugal force by reading experiment instructions, hypothesizing what might happen, and then conducting the experiments. It was an exciting week full of discoveries and surprises!🚀🔥

今週、プリスクールの子どもたちは、空気圧ロケットや色が変わる花、水と油を混ぜる実験、片栗粉と水で作るスライムなど、さまざまな科学実験を楽しみました。
小学部の子どもたちは、実験の手順を読み、「どうなるかな？」と結果を予想（仮説を立てる）してから、自分たちで実験に挑戦しました。実験を通して、重力や遠心力のしくみについて楽しく学ぶことができました。🚀🔥

🍀🐛Become a Bug Expert, week 2 🐞
This week, the preschool children made custom ladybug crowns, learned the life cycle and body parts of bugs. For Star festival children hung they’re tanzaku. Our Elementary students explored the fascinating world of insects. They learned the difference between insects and other small creatures, and even discovered new insects such as mole crickets and mayflies through the lyrics of traditional Japanese songs. Curious to learn more, each student chose a topic to research, exploring the life cycles of insects like ants and ladybugs, as well as the incredible diversity of butterflies from around the world.
It was wonderful to see their curiosity grow as they asked questions, conducted research, and shared their discoveries with one another.🐛🦋
今週は、プリスクールの子ども達はてんとう虫の冠を作り、昆虫の一生、部位の名前について学びました。また七夕にはみんなで短冊を飾りました。小学部の子ども達は、昆虫と昆虫以外の虫の違いについて学んだり、日本の伝統的な歌を通して「オケラ」「カゲロウ」など初めての虫を学んだりしました。さらに、アリやテントウムシの一生や世界の色々なチョウの種類など、それぞれが興味を持ったテーマを選び、自分で調べ学習（リサーチ）を行いました。
「知りたい！」という気持ちを大切にしながら、一人ひとりが学びを深める時間となりました。🐞

🌊Under the Sea Adventure, Week One🐢
This week, the preschool children learned names of popular sea creatures. The elementary children learned how scientists have found proof of
life in the sea through a visual timeline. Not only did we all learn about the ocean, we practiced and performed hula dancing!
今週は、プリスクールの子ども達は海の生き物の名前を学びました。小学部の子ども達は、海の生物のタイムラインを使い、海洋生物発見の歴史を学びました。最終日には、みんなで練習してきたフラダンスパーティーをしました。小学部の子ども達は、フラダンスの踊りの由来について、幼稚園部の子ども達へプレゼンテーションをくれました。🌺✨

6月初旬に開催されたお遊戯会は、子どもたちの成長と日頃の練習の成果が存分に発揮された、素晴らしい会となりました。身体全体を使って表現する喜びや、仲間と力を合わせる大切さ、大舞台に立つ度胸、そして自信を育むなど、子どもたちにとってかけがえのない経験となったことでしょう。会場は、子どもたちの生き生きとした姿に驚きと感動が広がり、温かな拍手に包まれました。
Thank you very much for coming to our Musical Performances! It was a memorable event that highlighted the children’s growth and achievements. The children shone on stage as they sang, danced, and performed with confidence and enthusiasm.

On Earth Day, some of our younger children created Earth-themed handprint art and enjoyed coloring pictures of our Earth. This week, we also observed the life cycle of butterflies from hatching to their release. Through these activities, the children are learning to appreciate and care for our beautiful planet.

Earth Dayには、子どもたちは地球をイメージした手形アートを作ったり、地球の塗り絵を楽しんだりしました。また、蝶の孵化から旅立ちまでの様子も観察しました。このような体験を通して、私たちの美しい地球を守り、感謝する心を育んでいます。
