Welcome, Student Trustee Stephen Reid!

Reid was sworn in Monday as the newest member of the RSCCD Board of Trustees, representing students from both Santa Ana College and Santiago Canyon College.

An SCC business and economics student with experience in student government, Reid says he plans to spend time on both campuses, listen directly to students and make sure their voices are part of District-level conversations.

“My goal is to listen, make sure students at both SAC and SCC are heard and advocate for opportunities that help them succeed.”

Today, Rancho Santiago Community College District recognizes Constitution Day, commemorating the signing of the U.S. Constitution on Sept. 17, 1787.

More than two centuries later, the words “We the People” remind us that democracy depends on an informed and engaged public.

On Monday evening, the Rancho Santiago Community College District Board of Trustees commemorated the 25th anniversary of the September 11 attacks by honoring members of the RSCCD community who have dedicated their careers to serving and protecting others.

The Board recognized Santa Ana Police Commander and Santa Ana College alumna Maria Lopez; Santiago Canyon College alumna, Licensed Vocational Nurse, and CTE teacher Jenne Lynn Oliver; and RSCCD Safety and Security dispatch professionals Jeanne Gamero, Breanna Rosales, and LynnMarie Lopez.

For more than 50 years, Santa Ana College has partnered with the Orange County Sheriff’s Department through the Orange County Sheriff’s Regional Training Academy, while RSCCD students and alumni continue to serve throughout our region in law enforcement, fire service, health care, and other public safety professions.

Twenty-five years after the September 11 attacks, we remember those we lost and honor those who continue a legacy of service.

On Monday, Sept. 14, the RSCCD Board of Trustees will recognize first responder alumni from Santa Ana College and Santiago Canyon College, along with members of our District Safety team, whose careers and service reflect courage, professionalism, and a commitment to protecting others.

For more than 50 years, RSCCD has helped prepare generations of first responders and public safety professionals who serve communities throughout Orange County and beyond. That commitment continues today in our classrooms, among our alumni, and through the District professionals who work every day to keep our students and employees safe.

We look forward to sharing the stories of this year’s honorees during this special recognition.

RSCCD is celebrating community at the Orange International Street Fair!

Board of Trustees Vice President Dr. Tina Arias-Miller represented the District during Friday night’s Opening Ceremony, introducing the Wimberley Bluegrass Band, a homegrown group of Santiago Canyon College alumni, who performed the National Anthem.

SCC is a proud sponsor of this year’s Street Fair and Mexico Street, giving RSCCD another opportunity to connect with the community we serve.

If you’re heading to the Street Fair this weekend, stop by the SCC booth and say hello! You can meet members of the college community and learn more about the educational opportunities available at Santiago Canyon College.
