The “Big Theme” of this lesson was changing your pattern from an over‑the‑top cut/pull to a more inside‑out swing that can produce a reliable draw, starting with a better setup and then cleaning up how your arms and forearms move.
1️⃣ - I want you to be very precise with your setup: get your target line first (flag and an intermediate spot a foot or two in front), then build your parallel lines with feet, knees, hips, and shoulders. If your feet are closed but your shoulders aren’t matched, you’re unintentionally setting up for an over‑the‑top move.
2️⃣ - From the top, your first move must be hands dropping inside, not lunging over the top. Think “down then out to the right,” not “out from the top.” If you start over the top, your body has to recalculate and you end up with pulls and cut‑spin.
3️⃣- Use the two‑stick/club drill: left forearm works down the inside stick with the clubhead staying outside your hands; then right forearm and clubhead travel down the outside stick and you release. This teaches you to swing on plane, keep the face square, and make the clubhead the fastest part of the swing.
4️⃣ - Focus on forearms and clubhead, not throwing your chest or sliding your knees. Left arm, right arm, then release, with your right elbow staying tucked so you can swing inside‑out instead of over the top.
🚀- When you’re hitting balls, exaggerate: start shots to the right and let them draw back. If it stays right, you didn’t release; if it pulls, your path went out from the top. The correct feel is “drop, swing out to the right, then release,” finishing balanced with your knees touching and right kneecap pointing at the target.
