Notah Begay III (NB3) Foundation Native-led nonprofit leading the way to improve Native American children’s health

The Notah Begay III Foundation was founded in 2005 by Notah Begay the Third, a Native American former professional golfer and four-time PGA Tour winner, to counter the epidemic of Native childhood obesity and the high-rates of type 2 diabetes. Today, the Foundation continues to champion Native children’s health, believing health is a cornerstone to achieving one’s full potential. To achieve our mi

ssion, we work with and support tribal communities and Native-led organization in their efforts to help Native American youth be healthy and physically active for their lifetime. Our work includes youth programing, grantmaking, research and evaluation and advocacy. We believe that all communities have the inherent knowledge, values and assets to resolve their own challenges and achieve their successes.

Last night, we gathered with some of our closest supporters, partners and friends here at home, where it all began for Notah, to celebrate his recognition as the 2026 Payne Stewart Award recipient.

It was an incredibly proud moment, not only for Albuquerque and the state of New Mexico, but for Native communities across the country.

Throughout his career, Notah has had the courage and confidence to break barriers, the compassion to give back and the determination to use his platform as a powerful voice for future generations. His impact reaches far beyond the game of golf, and this honor is a reflection of the values he continues to carry forward.

What a privilege to celebrate one of our own and this well-deserved recognition surrounded by the community that has supported him along the way.

We are so proud. Congratulations, Notah! 💙

🎉 Join us in welcoming Jessica Sanchez to the NB3 Foundation team!

Jessica first joined as an intern in January, and we’re excited to share that she has now accepted a full-time position as our Evaluation & Research Specialist! She is currently pursuing her master’s degree in public health at the University of New Mexico, with a focus on community health.

Jessica brings a passion for giving back to Tribal communities and incorporating Indigenous knowledge and community voices into research and evaluation. She is excited to bring a new perspective to the team and contribute to work that supports Native youth and families.

Outside of work and school, you can find Jessica trail running, spending time outdoors or hanging out with her husky, Luna. She’s even completed the Mt. Taylor 50K!

We’re excited to have you on the team, Jessica! 👏🏽
