She is also an amazing teacher, as shown by her collection of Teacher of the Year plaques hanging on her wall!

What a way to kick off the year!

The first three weeks at SMS have been packed with fun, learning, and a whole lot of Indian pride! Our students have jumped right back into the swing of things. Settling into routines, building friendships, and diving into their classes with energy and curiosity. 💜💛

And if you’ve walked our halls lately, you’ve probably heard it, our choir has been filling the building with music as they prepare for their upcoming Fall Concert! 🎵 The dedication and heart these students are pouring into every rehearsal is something special, and we cannot wait to share it with all of you.

Here’s to a year full of growth, joy, and moments that remind us why we do what we do. This TRIBE is off to an incredible start!

Our SMS GOAT for the week is Mrs. Amason. Here is what her colleague had to say: This week's GOAT goes to Ms. Amason! She was THE 1st math teacher that pulled out my Hadlee's math potential and gave her confidence in her abilities. She is kind, compassionate, and just all of the right stuff! Thank you for being amazing!!!

The first days at SMS are already ones for the books! 💜💛

Walk into any classroom right now and you’ll see it. The students leaning in, pencils moving, and teachers pouring their hearts into engaging, hands-on lessons from day one. From writing narratives to collaborative TRIBE activities out in the commons, our Indians are diving in and showing up ready to learn.

This is what believing looks like. This is what TRIBE feels like. And this is only the beginning of what we KNOW is going to be our best year yet! 🙌

We are soooo excited to get our GOAT award going this school year!

..Lisa Roberts! She's beauty and she's grace, she's Miss United States. Whether she is working with students, sharing information about the local ATPE chapter, or just chatting, her affable nature is infectious and assuring to all around her!

Belief looks like a gym full of kids finding their house, their team, and their people. 💜💛

What a way to start the 2026–27 school year! Our House Sorting Ceremony is complete, and every 6th grader and student new to SMS now has a house to compete with all year long.

At SMS, we believe in these kids, in who they are and who they’re becoming. And we can’t wait to watch them grow each and every day.
