Somewhere along the way, flowers became something we started saving for birthdays, anniversaries and special occasions.

But I believe ordinary days are when we need them most.

At Blue Door Blooms, I grow seasonal heirloom flowers in Sanger, CA for kitchen tables, morning coffee and Tuesday dinners. Each bouquet is grown, gathered and wrapped by me for someone in my flower family.

That’s the kind of flower farmer I am. Tuesdays and Thursdays are bouquet days here: seasonal, garden-grown flowers made for everyday tables.

The little flower that refuses to fade. ✨

Meet Gomphrena ‘Sequin.’ She’s easy to pass by in the garden—small, quiet and never demanding much attention—but in a bouquet, she is an absolute workhorse.

Her papery little blooms last beautifully, add just the right touch of texture and give your eye a soft place to rest among all the bigger personalities.

A pro tip for my flower family: when the rest of your bouquet begins to fade, rescue the gomphrena. Pull out those little stems, remove any tired leaves and place them in the tiniest vase you own—beside your bed, on the bathroom vanity or next to the kitchen sink.

No water needed. They’ll dry beautifully right where they are and continue bringing a little color to your home.

I’m drying plenty this season because I have plans for these sweet little gems at Christmas. 🤎
