πβ¨ Curriculum Spotlight: 6th Grade Literature β¨π
What happens when a young apprentice fights for freedom during the American Revolution, two unforgettable grandparents fill every summer with adventure, and a simple book about money changes the way you think about the world?
Our 6th/7th graders are about to find out!
π This fall, students will read:
π Johnny Tremain
π A Long Way from Chicago
π Whatever Happened to Penny Candy?
While each book tells a unique story, together they help students discover how great literature is connected through timeless themes.
Throughout the year, students will explore:
β Courage in the face of adversity
β Integrity and personal responsibility
β The importance of family and community
β Freedom and the responsibilities that come with it
β Wisdom, stewardship, and making wise decisions
β How choices shape both character and the future
Students won't simply answer comprehension questionsβthey'll compare characters, identify recurring literary themes, analyze authors' craft, and make meaningful connections across literature, history, economics, and their own lives.
At Rooted Learning Homeschool Center, we believe every story is an opportunity to see God's hand at work in people, history, and culture. Through rich discussion and a biblical worldview, our students learn to think deeply, communicate thoughtfully, and grow in both wisdom and faith.
π± Growing readers. Growing thinkers. Growing disciples.
