Programs of Study help student and parents make wise course selections that will best prepare students for future success. Programs of Study incorporate secondary and post secondary education elements. They include coherent and rigorous content aligned with challenging academic standards and relevant career and technical content in a coordinated, non-duplicative progression of courses that align secondary education with post secondary education. The purpose of selecting a sequential set of Career and Technical Education courses is to adequately prepare students to succeed in post secondary education and/or employment.

Career Pathways is a program designed to provide students the opportunity to prepare for college and a career. A student begins Career Pathways in high school by exploring in depth career interests through elective courses. These high school studies are linked to a related program at Seminole State College. Students save time and money by earning college credits for work accomplished in high school by taking a program area Career Pathways joint assessment after successful completion of a sequence of technical courses.

What is Career Pathways?

Career Pathways, a cooperative effort between Seminole County Public Schools and Seminole State College, allows students to prepare for college and a career.

The pathways are available in more than a dozen high school disciplines and are tied to career programs at Seminole State. Depending on the specific career path, students can earn up to 12 college credits for high school work, a savings of up to $1,200. In addition, many Career Pathways programs pre-
pare students specifically for the Bright Futures Gold Seal Vocational Scholars Award.
