After a two-week delay due to winter weather, Fire Academy 19 finally became official graduates last night. With an incredible turnout of love and support from families and Fire Departments, Coordinator Britt and Director Tart proudly presented 21 graduation certificates and 3 special awards.
Earlier in the academy, a fundraiser was held where the winning ticket holder would receive a leather helmet. The winner did something completely unexpected—he chose not to claim the helmet and instead donated it back to the academy for the cadets.
The original plan was to award the helmet to the most outstanding cadet of the class… but Academy 19 made that nearly impossible. This group was filled with hardworking, driven, and outstanding cadets from start to finish.
Because of that, Coordinator Britt chose to recognize three cadets with custom leather gear they can carry into their careers. And in a powerful act of generosity and support, a Fire Chief stepped forward and personally paid for the leather items.
🏅 Most Improved Award – Cadet Cruz (custom leather chin strap)
💪 Physical Training Excellence Award – Cadet Kinkead (custom leather helmet band)
🔥 Tramp Dunn Award – Cadet Chalkley (custom leather radio strap)
Congratulations to all of Academy 19. Your hard work, dedication, and perseverance truly set the standard. We are proud of every one of you.
A special thank you to the Fuquay-Varina Fire Department Honor Guard and the CAM Fire Pipes and Drums for helping make the ceremony even more meaningful and memorable.
Academy 19 - you didn't just graduate. You earned it. Welcome to the fire service!
