Sharing from Springvale Public Library. . .
Hello Homeschool Families!
The Springvale Library website has just been updated with the Fall programs. Go to www.springvalelibrary.org, click on the Youth Services button and scroll down to see the various programs for various ages. Here are a few highlights that you will be particularly interested in. We have not set specific ages for the homeschooling programs due the nature of learning in the family unit. We will tailor the programs to those participating.
Homeschool Coding Project - Mondays Sept. 13-Oct 25 at 11:00
Homeschooling families are invited to attend this in-person 6-week course about learning to code using Micro:bits. We will be utilizing the Micro:bits V2 we recently acquired through a Maine Public Library Grant. Each family will need to bring a device to use during the program that allows you to download the micro:bit app. Masks will be required in the building. If weather permits, we can run the program on the outside patio.
Homeschool Group - Thursdays Sept. 16-Oct. 14
Rhea McCoy comes to Springvale with an a BA in Elementary Education and experience in homeschooling her own children. She will be teaching homeschool families library skills for 6 weeks. The class will start at 10 am in-person at the library, with masks required. If unable to attend in person, please contact Sheila at [email protected] for a link to attend via zoom.

Outside Story Times - Fridays at 10 am (starting Sept 10)
We will be meeting outside on the library lawn for a storytime geared to 2-5-year-olds. Bring a blanket and join us for movement stories, fingerplays, and parachute play. In case of inclement weather, Sheila will read stories on Facebook live.
If you have a Teen at home, ages 12 and up, this is for them:
TAG Teen Afterschool (starting Sept 15)- Wednesdays 3:30-4:30
What does TAG mean? It stands for Teen Activity Group! Join Sheila weekly for cool crafts, activities (escape room anyone?), books and SNACKS! Ages 12 and up. When possible, we will try to do activities outside on the patio, but if we have to go inside, masks are required.
