As we wrap up our Welcome Back events before classes begin Monday, I’m reflecting on the energy and excitement across Seminole State. 💙💛

Our Adjunct Faculty and Arts & Sciences teams came together to reconnect, hear important updates, celebrate one another and, of course, have a little fun along the way!

I’ve always thought of August as our New Year in higher education—a time for fresh starts, new goals and the opportunity to make an impact on the lives of our students. Seeing our faculty and staff ready to begin another semester reminds me just how special this college community is.

Here’s to a new semester, new possibilities and another year of helping our students reach their goals. Let’s make it a great one! 🎓✨

"Can't Stop the Feeling!" 🎶

That song reflects exactly how I feel about the momentum and excellence we're building at Seminole State. Today, I joined our faculty and staff at Welcome Back as we celebrated a new academic year and the opportunities that lie ahead.

A special thank you to recent graduate Nathan Moon for sharing his inspiring journey from our GED program to earning an A.A. degree and a Presidential Scholarship to Rollins College. Nathan's story is a powerful reminder of the impact of our work.

I'm excited to see how we embrace innovation, collaboration and entrepreneurial thinking to create even greater opportunities for our students, our employees and our region.

What an incredible way to end a week!

These investments will help us prepare more students for high-demand careers while strengthening the skills needed for engaged citizenship. I was especially proud to hear nursing student Naomi Gossett share her perspective on the impact this funding for Seminole State can have on students' lives and futures.

My thanks to Sen. Jason Brodeur, Rep. David Smith and Rep. Erika Booth for their support. We look forward to collaborating with the Florida Debate Initiative and continuing to create opportunities that strengthen Florida's workforce and communities.

Earlier this week, we celebrated an important milestone in our community: the launch of Midway Elementary School of the Arts as Seminole County’s first flagship community school.

After more than a year of planning and partnership, it was wonderful to see this vision come to life. Community schools bring together education, health care and community resources to help remove barriers and create greater opportunities for students and families.

I’m grateful to Heart of Florida United Way, Seminole County Public Schools and True Health for making this vision possible, and especially grateful that Seminole State will serve as the higher education partner. I’m excited to see the impact this partnership will have on the Midway community!

Nine years later, I'm reminded of what has made this journey so meaningful.

First, what a special community we have here. One of Central Florida's greatest strengths is its spirit of working together for the collective good. I saw that during my interview process, and I'm grateful every day to be part of it.

Second, the ambitious spirit and commitment to excellence at Seminole State College of Florida. Our faculty and staff are simply outstanding, and it shows—in our students' success, our graduates' achievements and the national recognition our college continues to receive.

Thank you to everyone who has been part of this incredible journey. I am so proud to be a Raider.
