Curiosity creates opportunities for stronger leadership, deeper connections and new ways of thinking.

It was a pleasure to welcome Carl Lubbe, The Curiosity Coach, to Seminole State for an inspiring evening with our Central Florida community, followed by a Leadership Lunch & Learn with our college leaders today.

One of my favorite takeaways was this: “Average leaders make simple statements. Great leaders ask better questions.” A powerful reminder that when we lead with curiosity instead of judgment, we create space for trust, collaboration and innovation.

Thank you, Carl, for sharing your insights and challenging us to keep asking better questions as we lead, learn and grow together!

Local leadership and community partnerships make a difference. At Tuesday’s Seminole County FL Board of County Commissioners meeting, a resolution was presented recognizing John Gyllin’s career and service to Seminole State College.

It’s meaningful to see our community come together to acknowledge the people and contributions that help shape our local institutions. Thank you to the Board of County Commissioners for this recognition.

I am deeply honored to be recognized by the News Service of Florida as an Above and Beyond honoree, celebrating exceptional women across our state who are making a difference in fields including education, healthcare, media, politics and nonprofits.

It was especially meaningful to share this recognition with fellow honorees like Adrienne Johnston, CEO of CareerSource Florida, and Terrie Ard, President and COO of The Moore Agency. I also enjoyed reconnecting with my Leadership Florida classmate Mike Cassel, whose company, Chesapeake Utilities, was a sponsor of the event.

I am grateful to be part of a community of leaders who continue to inspire, serve and make a difference across Florida. Congratulations to all of this year’s honorees!

Our Seminole State College of Florida - Student Life team does an incredible job with Leadership Retreats that challenge students to work together and reflect on their own leadership style and potential.

Working in education, it is incredibly rewarding to witness students building confidence in their abilities. It is even better when you see those students turn around and help their peers do the same.

Well done to everyone who participated in this retreat! The skills you learned will help you (and those you lead!) Go Far. 👏

This week, we had the pleasure to welcome Florida Department of Education Commissioner Dr. Henry Mack to Seminole State College of Florida.

With tours of our Automotive Training Center and the George and Gretchen Smith Center for Workforce Trades, we showcased the transformative work being done for our students' success and the workforce demands of our region.

Special thanks to Sen. Jason Brodeur for joining us for the commissioner's visit and for the continued support of our elected officials toward education and workforce development across Central Florida.

It truly takes a village, and I am deeply grateful for ours. The Raider C.A.R.E. Village, the renovated George and Gretchen Smith Center for Workforce Trades, and record support for scholarships and programs at Seminole State College of Florida are all possible because of the generosity of our donors, partners and friends.

Celebration of Giving is a special chance to recognize their impact and honor alumni who are making a difference across Central Florida.

We were also pleased to welcome The Florida College System Chancellor Kathy Hebda and showcase how college and community come together to support student success.
