You’ve Been Flocked! Flamingo Fundraiser Supports Sanford High Class of 2027 Project Graduation. Residents of Sanford, Springvale, and Acton may soon wake up to an unexpected sight on their front lawns: a flock of bright pink flamingos. But there’s no need for alarm—it’s all part of a lighthearted community fundraiser supporting the Sanford High School Class of 2027 Project Graduation.
The Project Graduation Committee is organizing the fundraising initiative as one of several efforts designed to support a substance-free, all-night celebration for graduating seniors immediately following commencement ceremonies on June 2. Committee members are working toward a fundraising goal of $45,000 to help provide graduates with a safe and memorable sendoff while also supporting activities planned throughout Senior Week.
So, what does it mean to be “flocked”? Community members who participate in the fundraiser can arrange for a colorful collection of flamingos to appear on a friend’s, family member’s, or neighbor’s lawn. Soon after, trained “flock removal experts” will swoop in to relocate the birds to their next destination somewhere in Sanford, Springvale, or Acton. The flamingos continue their journey based on where donors choose to send them next.
Organizers emphasize that the fundraiser is meant to be fun and community-focused. Residents who find flamingos decorating their yards are encouraged to enjoy the surprise and remember that it is all being done in support of local students. Those who are unable to make a donation need not worry—the flock will eventually be picked up and moved along to its next location.
“Our ultimate goal is to give these graduates a great sendoff to celebrate this monumental accomplishment in their lives and do so in a completely safe environment,” the committee shared.
