▪ Wildfire Preparedness Efforts ▪

As summer approaches and temperatures rise, our crews are hard at work on projects to reduce wildfire risk in the Wildland-Urban Interface (WUI) areas.

Sandy City Fire was awarded a three-year Prevention, Preparedness, and Mitigation Wildfire Grant, which will support ongoing efforts to make our community safer.

Currently, crews have been focusing on mitigation work in Brandon Park, and over the coming weeks, we’ll be sharing progress photos to show the improvements being made.

Please follow along to see how we’re protecting our neighborhoods and keeping Sandy City safe this wildfire season!

Recently, Sandy City Fire Department, Salt Lake City Fire Department, and West Jordan Fire Department donated Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and uniforms to the City of Zacatecas. They shared these pictures of them distributing the equipment and expressed their gratitude for the equipment since they had a true need for it.

They stated, "[o]n behalf of the Mayor of Zacatecas, we thank you for your solidarity and kind attentions. Please send warm regards to Mayor Zoltanski on behalf of our Mayor Miguel Varela. We hope to keep in touch for further projects."

They also expressed their thanks to former Sandy City Council Member Dennis Tenney and Chief McConaghie for the coordination of this project.

Thank you Sandy City, Sandy Mayor Monica Zoltanski, Salt Lake City Fire Department and West Jordan Fire Department for making this donation possible!
