Today we celebrated two outstanding leaders from our Elementary ELA Team — Bernice Allena and Leigh Ann Fisher — for receiving the Science of Reading District Leader Award! 🎉📚

This award is incredibly rare, with Bernice and Leigh Ann becoming only the 6th and 7th recipients in the entire state to receive this honor. Their leadership, positivity, and commitment to supporting teachers and improving literacy outcomes for students have made a lasting impact not only in Canyons School District, but across Utah.

We are so grateful for the way they continue to lead, learn, collaborate, and advocate for high-quality literacy instruction for all students. Congratulations on this well-deserved recognition! 💙

✨ Throwback Thursday: Preparing Students for the Future ✨

During our STEM BrainBooster training, teachers learned how to use Sphero robots to bring computer science concepts to life for elementary students. Through coding and interactive challenges, students can build critical thinking, collaboration, and programming skills in engaging, hands-on ways.

We love seeing teachers explore innovative tools that make learning meaningful and exciting! 🤖💡

Want to build a positive school culture? Meet PBIS Rewards, an awesome program we’re using in about half of our schools here in Canyons District! With PBIS Rewards, teachers can easily recognize and reward students for demonstrating positive behaviors like being safe, kind, responsible, and respectful. Students can then redeem their points for fun prizes in their school’s store—from fidgets to special events! Parents, you can stay in the loop too!
