Special Weather Statement issued July 17 at 5:31PM MDT by NWS Salt Lake City UT

Great Salt Lake Desert and Mountains; Salt Lake Valley; Utah Valley; Wasatch Mountains South of I-80

At 531 PM MDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near
Bluffdale, or 10 miles southwest of Sandy, moving northeast at 10
mph.

HAZARD...Pea size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Minor damage to outdoor objects is possible.

Locations impacted include...
South Jordan, Lehi, Draper, Riverton, American Fork, Herriman, Eagle
Mountain, Alpine, Bluffdale, Camp Williams, Saratoga Springs, and
Highland.

This includes Interstate 15 between mile markers 280 and 290.

If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.

Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm and may lead to
localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.

After many wonderful years as Hidden Valley School – Mindful Preschool, we’re excited to introduce our new name:

Backyard Original Outdoor Preschool

Why BOOP?

Around here, we love to “boop” flowers, bugs, and all the little wonders of nature. A gentle boop is our reminder to look, wonder, and appreciate—without picking, harming, or taking home what belongs outside.

When we teach children to give a flower or a bug a little “boop,” we’re teaching something much bigger:
Respect for living things.
Curiosity instead of control.
To leave nature the way we found it so others can enjoy it too.

Our new name reflects who we’ve always been—an outdoor preschool where children learn through play, exploration, and caring for the natural world.

The name is changing, but our heart remains the same: helping children grow through wonder, kindness, and meaningful experiences outdoors.
