Easter may feel far away, but at the Children’s Center, egg-hunt preparation is already well underway! Miss Ilse has been collecting eggs from her chickens and duck and started painting them back in August. Because apparently, preparing for Easter eight months early is completely reasonable when your goal is around 5,000 real, hand-painted eggs!

The chickens are contributing enthusiastically. The duck is participating at her own pace. And Miss Ilse will be painting eggs for the foreseeable future. It takes a lot of planning—and a very cooperative little flock—to create Easter magic for our families each year!

628 books—and yes, we counted!

From sturdy board books for infants and toddlers to easy readers, chapter books for older children, activity-idea books, caregiver resources, and helpful reads for parents, our library has a little something for everyone.

This collection has been growing for 16 years and 23 days—not that we’re keeping track or anything. We love organizing, sorting, and setting up our books for success… although somehow, at least one book always sneaks back onto the wrong shelf.

Here’s to raising curious readers, supporting caregivers, and enjoying many more years of “Can we read it again?”

Moose at Alta - Did you know that Moose are year-round residents of the Wasatch Mountains and are regularly seen around Alta, especially in Albion Basin during the summer and fall. They remain in the area during winter, although deep snow may encourage them to move to lower elevations, sheltered forests or places where food is easier to reach.

In fact, during Alta’s historic 60-hour Interlodge storm in 2021, three moose were spotted strolling down the canyon road—apparently the only Alta residents who did not receive the stay-inside announcement.

Utah is home to an estimated 2,500–3,000 moose. There isn’t an official count or list of names for Alta’s individual moose, but we certainly recognize some familiar-looking visitors. At Alta Children’s Center, spotting one is always exciting—and also an excellent opportunity to teach children that wildlife should be admired quietly and from a very generous distance.

They may look calm and cuddly, but moose are enormous wild animals with absolutely no interest in joining our classroom.

From chaotic, well-loved art supplies to clean, restocked, organized bliss! The art cupboard is officially ready for our younger artists to paint, craft, create—and somehow still get glitter absolutely everywhere—this winter season at Alta Children’s Center.

Today’s big transformation: big-kid summer camp chairs are officially out, and toddler and preschool chairs are moving in! ❤️

The winter-season flip has begun—which means deep cleaning, reorganizing, and discovering approximately 427 crayons hiding in unexpected places. 😂 We love watching the space transform as we prepare for another magical winter filled with little learners, cozy moments, and lots of tiny chairs!

Nap time at Alta Children’s Center = serious business… the cozy kind!

Before our kiddos drift off to dreamland, they have a little time to slow down, snuggle up with a book, and get those wiggles out at a much more peaceful speed.

Then it’s onto our cute little cots, the white noise goes on, and suddenly our busy room becomes a tiny mountain sleep retreat.

There is something truly magical about sitting down together with a good book. Sometimes story time is a quiet moment of comfort after a tricky drop-off. Sometimes it’s an important lesson in cow noises—because “MOO!” is essential early-childhood knowledge.

And sometimes we’re off on a snowy adventure with Queen Elsa and Olaf! ❄️⛄️

No matter the story, reading together creates an incredible connection built on comfort, trust, imagination, and plenty of giggles. At the Alta Children’s Center, every book opens a new world—and occasionally gets read three times in a row because our smallest book critics know exactly what they like.

At the Alta Children’s Center, we are very attracted to magnetic play… literally!

From colorful magnetic tiles and spinning gears to our ultimate favorite—giant foam magnetic blocks—the children can build, create, experiment, and occasionally decorate anything made of steel. Yes, even the washing machine has joined the fun!

While our little guests think they’re simply enjoying their “play vacation,” we’re sneaking in colors, shapes, problem-solving, creativity, and plenty of conversation. Shhh… please don’t tell them they’re learning!

The Alta Children’s Center will remain open all the way through the resort’s closing day on April 26. That means more ski days for you and more play days for the kids.

While you’re chasing powder, we’ll be busy building block towers, reading books, creating masterpieces, and making sure tiny humans have just as much fun as the big ones on the mountain.

We’re excited to keep the season going right alongside Alta and care for your little adventurers all the way to closing day.

Ski hard. Play harder. We’ve got the childcare covered. See you up the canyon.
