Sprucewood Elementary Sprucewood is a public elementary school for grades k-5, located in Sandy, UT. "Sprucewood Students take care of themselves, others, and the school."

Teachers and parents combine efforts to foster positive home-school relationships to see that individual student needs are met. Together we work to give each student opportunities to succeed, to learn the organized curriculum, and to gain a sense of self-worth. Principal: Cathy Schino

🎉 Our Falcons CRUSHED their first Care Card goal! 🎉

Today, our Sprucewood Falcons earned EXTRA RECESS for earning more than 5,000 Care Cards—and they didn’t just reach the goal… they blew it out of the park! 🥳

In just the first few weeks of school, our Falcons earned an incredible 8,910 Care Cards! 💥

Every day, they are showing us what it means to take care of themselves, take care of others, and take care of our school. We are so proud of the choices they are making and the way they are building a caring, respectful Sprucewood community.

Falcon Friday Spotlight: Mrs. Hansen! 🦅

We are excited to welcome Mrs. Hansen to Sprucewood! This is her sixth year as a STEM Brain Booster, and she brings a love of learning and curiosity about the world around us to her classroom.

Mrs. Hansen is also a geologist, which means she loves rocks, dinosaurs, and just about everything related to the Earth! 🌎🦖🪨

When she’s not at school, Mrs. Hansen stays busy with her three kids and five pets. She enjoys reading, writing, running, knitting, and spending time in nature. 📚🏃‍♀️🧶🌲

When asked what she loves most about Sprucewood, her answer was simple: “How welcoming everyone has been.”

Falcon Friday Spotlight:

Hi! I’m Ashley Lennox, and I’m proud to serve as the principal of Sprucewood Elementary. I’ve had the opportunity to serve in many different roles throughout my career in education, and I’m incredibly proud of the students and staff at Sprucewood. I truly believe we have the best school around!

Outside of school, I love to travel, try new foods, and spend time with animals. Many of our family vacations are centered around seeing new animals in the wild and exploring new places.

We have two rescue pups, Merle Haggard and Emmylou Harris, who are as goofy as they are sweet. They keep us laughing with their silly personalities.

My favorite thing about working at Sprucewood is the incredible sense of community we share. Our students are at the heart of everything we do, and we work hard to center every decision around what is best for them. I’m proud to be part of a school where our staff truly care about students, support one another, and work together to help every child learn, grow, and thrive. There is something special about Sprucewood, and I feel incredibly lucky to be a part of it!

Most of all, I love serving the Sprucewood community. I know that every day, families are trusting us with their most important thing—their child—and I consider that an incredible privilege. I’m grateful for the opportunity to be part of our students’ lives and to work alongside such an amazing school community!

🦅 Falcon Friday Spotlight: Meet Mrs. Lee! 📚✨

Every Friday, we’ll be shining the spotlight on one of our amazing Sprucewood faculty members! We’re kicking things off with someone who helps fill our school with stories, learning, and a little Disney magic—our wonderful school librarian, Mrs. Lee! 📖

Mrs. Lee was born in Salt Lake City and has lived in several Utah communities, from the Logan area to Cedar City, but the Salt Lake Valley is still her favorite place in Utah. Her favorite place in the whole world, though? Southern California! 🌴☀️ She promised herself she would live there someday—and she’s still working on it!

By the end of 2026, Mrs. Lee will celebrate 25 years of marriage to her husband, and their two children will be 20 and 22. She also proudly considers herself a crazy cat lady and is mom to three cats: Bronco, Blackbeard, and Blink. 🐈🐈🐈

When she’s not at school, you can find Mrs. Lee reading, watching wildly fascinating documentaries, binge-watching scripted TV shows, singing show tunes, or embracing her status as an unapologetic Disney adult. One of her daily goals is figuring out when she can make her next trip to Disneyland! 🏰✨

Mrs. Lee recently added another accomplishment to her list as a member of the inaugural cohort of Utah State University’s new Certificate in Para-Librarianship. The program required coursework, assignments, extensive reading, collaboration, and reflection—all while balancing her regular responsibilities at Sprucewood. We are so proud of her commitment to growing her knowledge and serving our students!

When asked what she loves most about working at Sprucewood, her answer was simple: the people. ❤️ She values the relationships she has built with both students and adults and says they make her life more meaningful.

We are so lucky to have Mrs. Lee as part of our Falcon family! 🦅📚

Today was the first day of school for our 1st–5th grade Falcons, and what a great day it was! ❤

Much of the day was spent learning and practicing important routines—from using lunch cards and navigating recess to learning classroom expectations and enjoying read-alouds.

Most importantly, our Falcons learned what it means to take care of themselves, take care of others, and take care of our school.

We are so proud of the way our students jumped into the new school year, and we can't wait to see all the learning, growth, and memories ahead!

Welcome back, Falcons! 🦅 We are ready to SOAR!
