Yesterday our students got to be the first group of students to visit the Utah Mammoth practice facility for some STEM connections. They got to go on the ice, learn about angles and blades on the ice. Got up close and personal with the Zamboni and learned about how the water had to be purified to the correct parts per million to create the perfect ice. The also showed their athletic skills competing and graphing their accomplishments in a hockey combine. They finished it up with some agility and reflex skills.

Today we have the honor of recognizing someone who truly represents the heart of our school. Each year, we select a Teacher of the Year—someone who goes above and beyond in the classroom, someone who makes a lasting difference in the lives of students, and someone who helps make Eastmont such an incredible place to learn and grow.
This year’s recipient is someone who doesn’t just teach during the school day—they create opportunities for students to learn, belong, and discover their passions long after the bell rings.
This Patriot inspires students through hands-on learning in the classroom, making learning not just meaningful, but honestly… pretty cool.
This Patriot helps bring our school productions to life by leading Stage Crew, doing all the behind-the-scenes work that makes our shows look absolutely rad.
This Patriot creates a place where imagination and collaboration thrive through the Dungeons & Dragons Guild—a space that is both creative and seriously cool.
This Patriot challenges students to design, build, and think like engineers through Eastmont Engineers after school—projects that are innovative, engaging, and, let’s be real… pretty rad.
And when the school day ends, you’ll still find this Patriot supporting students—on the court as a basketball coach, and proudly leading our Unified Basketball team, promoting teamwork, inclusion, and school pride in a way that is truly cool to see.
Most importantly, this Patriot builds relationships with students. They create spaces where students feel welcome, capable, and inspired to try new things—and that is what makes a teacher not just great, but truly rad.
Eastmont is a better place because of the dedication, passion, and countless hours this Patriot gives to our school community.
Patriots, please join me in congratulating our Eastmont Middle School Teacher of the Year…
Mr. Mark Snow! 🎉

While our students are not in school today there is still a lot of learning taking place. Today our teachers are learning about inquiry skills and how to increase rigor in their classroom through inquiry.

Today our staff and students had the opportunity to showcase the hard work and high levels of rigor in their classes. We were able to open our doors to over 40 educators from the Western states to see AVID in action. We were even fortunate enough to have our newly appointed superintendent join us. We know how hard our staff and students work and we are proud to get to show it off.

He’s a Patriot!
From the New York Times Bestseller list to the big screen: Eastmont Middle School's Marc Gregson, and his YA novels, were featured in The University of Utah's magazine. This teacher embodies everything we stand for at Canyons School District: enthusiasm, innovation, and unwavering belief in student potential. His fantasy trilogy, "Above the Black," has not only been a huge hit, it serves as an example of what's possible with persistence. Gregson invested years in writing and pitching his work to publishers before landing a book deal for his first in the trilogy, "Sky's End." As he told the U.'s magazine: "I was trying to write things that I thought would be popular” before is lightbulb moment of realizing, "I’m just going to write a book that I’m passionate about." Let’s give a huge shout-out to this amazing educator — thank you for showing up for our kids, for our community, and for public education. Drop a comment below to send your congratulations and share how your child has been touched by someone like this at Eastmont Middle!
