Just in time for our recent 5th Sunday lesson, we've got to settle something.

The White Horse Prophecy is one of the most debated and controversial texts in Latter-day Saint history. Allegedly spoken by Joseph Smith in 1843, it paints a dramatic vision of America's future; the Constitution hanging by a thread, the nation collapsing into chaos, foreign armies moving in, and the Latter-day Saints riding in to save what's left of the republic.

But here's the catch, the man who first recorded it did so nearly 60 years after the fact, from memory, in his seventies.

So is it prophecy? Is it folklore? Is it a little of both? And why, after all this time, does it refuse to die?
