Fresh Start Initiative founders and Riverwood students Addison Howard and Samantha Below recently spent time with Girl Scouts at High Point Elementary, teaching them what it means to be community leaders and showing them that even the smallest acts can create meaningful change.

During their visit, the girls worked together to decorate bags that will soon be filled with socks and underwear donated by our community!

We love seeing young people learn that they have the power to make a difference!

Last weekend, our JROTC team competed at the Hiram High Raider Meet, and our Mixed Team brought home 1st place out of 15 teams in both the Team Run and Cross Country Rescue!

What a great way to kick off the season!

Good luck to our JROTC Raiders as they compete tomorrow at the Early Eagle Raider Challenge at Etowah High School!

Our Howard University and Georgia Tech rep visits were a huge success and well attended by our students!

A special shoutout to Ms. Garber for all the behind-the-scenes work she does to plan and coordinate these opportunities. She truly loves what she does. Her dedication helps our students explore their options and find their next place after high school.

If you know Samara, you’ve seen how her experiences with CBI and Best Buddies at Riverwood have helped her find meaningful connections, support, and a place where differences are embraced and celebrated.

Now, she wants to pay that kindness forward.

Samara has launched Color Kind, a community initiative creating accessible and inclusive art opportunities for people of all abilities.

Her first event is Saturday, September 19 | 4–6 PM — and this is just the beginning!

Let’s show our amazing Riverwood faculty and staff how much we appreciate all they do!

• Keep each basket to $50 or less.
• Please put the teacher/staff member’s name on the basket.
• Add a personal note from your family if you’d like!
• You or your student can drop off the basket at the Front Desk.
