The NHS HEMMA program is excited to announce that once again, we will be offering music lessons from February through May!
HEMMA (High School Elementary Musicianship Mentoring Association) is a program that pairs musically proficient high school students with kids in grades 3-6. Lessons occur once a week and are half an hour long. Lessons will be in-person this year; however, masks usage and social distancing (6 feet) will be enforced. Lessons are tentatively scheduled to begin on Monday, February 14th and end in late May. Lessons are not held on early dismissal days or when there is no school, including snow days.
Students will receive one-on-one instruction from a high school student in the instrument of their choice. (We will ask for your top three preferences). Students must supply their own instruments, except for piano and percussion students.
Students tend to love it and their music skills tend to improve greatly!
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, we will unfortunately not be able to offer Basic Music Theory (BMT) lessons. However, all music lessons will cover the fundamentals of music theory and literature (and will be tailored to each student's abilities).
The sign-up date is Friday, December 31st. Here is the link to the sign-up form:
