With a heavy heart, we extend our deepest condolences to the family of classmate Garry Miller.

Garry J. Miller, 69, of Sandwich, IL passed away Thursday, November 14, 2024 at Northwestern Medicine Kishwaukee Hospital with his loving family by his side in DeKalb, IL. He was born May 6, 1955 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Aurora, IL the son of Louis J. and Edith Mae (Wickens) Miller. Garry was 1 of 4 children, he loved his brothers Albert, Larry and Dennis. Garry grew up attending catholic school in Plano and graduating from Sandwich High School in 1973. He married Kathy (Brocker/Angus) Miller on October 10, 1984, recently celebrating 40 years of marriage. Garry and Kathy had two children together, Ryan (Amy) Miller of Sandwich, IL and Kyle (Martina) Miller of Marquette Heights, IL. Garry was the beloved grandfather of Kayla, Rylee, Audrianna, Jaxon, Maverick, Madalynn and Harper.

Garry and Kathy spent majority of their time together in Sandwich. Garry was a partner with his father’s home building business where they built several homes and farm buildings together. Later Garry joined Tri County Concrete as a ready-mix truck driver where he had spent 33 years before retiring. After retiring Garry became the supervisor of Sandwich Township where he remained active up until his death. Garry was a very skilled man; he loved helping friends and family with any project they needed help with. He loved to spend his free time creating beautiful wood workings. He was an active member of the St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Sandwich, IL.

After retirement, Garry and Kathy were able to have time for another passion they loved, traveling by Amtrak across the country.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy; three brothers, Albert Miller, Larry (Emilie) Miller, both of Wisconsin and Dennis (Jill) Miller of Sandwich, IL; two children, Ryan (Amy) Miller and Kyle (Martina) Miller; seven grandchildren, many loved nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Garry is preceded in death by his parents Louis and Edith (Wickens) Miller.

Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 17, 2024 at Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Somonauk, IL with a Prayer service being recited at 5:30 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, November 18, 2024 at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Sandwich, IL with Father Brian Geary officiating. Burial will follow at the St. Paul Catholic Cemetery in Sandwich, IL. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to The Open Door or Fox Valley Community Services.
