I just finished reading
Glenna Wright‑Gallo’s June 20, 2025 LinkedIn article “Navigating Uncertainty in Education: Policy Shifts, Technology, and the Path Forward”, and it really got me going down a rabbit hole!

💭 Just a thought…
What if more school districts leaned into:

✅ Universal Design for Learning (UDL)
✅ Student-designed, personalized pathways
✅ Competency-based progression
✅ Hands-on, real-world learning experiences

Could we finally bridge the gap between what students need and what systems are currently designed to provide?

When we design for learner variability from the start—rather than retrofitting supports—we create environments that are inclusive, empowering, and aligned with both skill development and achievement expectations.

This isn’t about lowering the bar.
It’s about rethinking how students access it—and giving them meaningful ways to climb.

In my opinion, it is important to evaluate the extent to which students can apply the knowledge and skills they have learned in various situations, particularly in practical and functional real-life scenarios. This ability to generalize their learning and use it to effectively solve problems in diverse contexts is crucial in defining their overall learning in addition to changing education from “teaching to the test“ to teaching our future leaders of society, to be thinkers.

It seems that children are aware of the fact that they are not receiving the best possible treatment. It makes one wonder when the current system will undergo changes that will enable us to provide them with better care, support, and well-rounded education!?!
