Yesterday we walked to the Arboretum to check out all of the native trees and plants. We identified how they were different, and took turns hugging the trees and saying thank you for the gifts that trees give us.

A big thank you to the Police department and the Fire department for making our field trip extra special.
We got to explore the fire station, and even got to see where they sleep when they are on shift. We saw the fire trucks, and of course, talked all about fire safety! Everyone was sent home with fire hats and coloring books.
Next door at the police station we took a tour of their building and met some of the people who work there. We learned that a police officers most used tool is a pen! We got to see where they keep the evidence and the machine they use to dust for fingerprints. We even got to get in the patrol cars!
Both groups did so amazing with the kids and I am so thankful that we got to meet some of our awesome community helpers!

This week we are learning all about community, and community helpers!
We had the children’s director from the library come to our school and share a story with us. She told us all about the library and what they offer our community! 📚
We walked to Winter Ridge and had the coolest tour ever! I am so thankful for all the work they put in to make it special for our kids. We starting the tour by putting on our fancy new Winter Ridge lanyards, which had our names on them. We got to see all of the behind the scenes of the store, and met the people that make the make the store run smoothly. We ended the tour with many delicious snacks! Thanks you Winter Ridge Natural Foods Market for making it such a fun experience.
Thank you Holly! The kids love the newest addition to the playground!

Such a fun week, full of family and friends!
Yesterday we had Luna’s Papa, Bob, came in to teach us all about trees! He brought in some pine cones and bundles of needles from a Western White Pine tree for the kids to explore and sent them each home with some cool resources. 🌲
Raven’s Mom, Emma, made some yummy elderberry syrup with us! The kids got to check out some elderberries and we learned about what they can be used for. Everyone was sent home with a little bottle full of elderberry syrup for the next time they aren’t feeling well! ❤️🩹
Maggie’s Dad, Jonathon, brought his guitar in and sang some fun songs with us. He taught us a bit about music and how to make a song! The kids enjoyed using their sense of hearing to explore the sound. 🎶
Riders Mom, Kelli, showed us how to make zucchini muffins using zucchini’s from their garden. Her and her special helper mixed up the ingredients and baked them at the school! Our school smelled absolutely delicious all day and the muffins were enjoyed by all! 🍽️

Miss Holly came in and read us a fabulous book about friendship, and imagination. After the story we created a friendship picture together.
Talus’ Dad came and shared a story about a family of beavers with us. He shared some pretty awesome wilderness treasures related to the story. The kids got to check out some skulls (a beaver and a wolf) and an elk leg.
