AI can give you an answer. It can’t teach you to play the violin.

You have to pick it up.
You have to practice.
You have to struggle.
You have to overcome.
And then—you make something beautiful.

Our 4th grade class has just completed their first year of string instruction, and they have come a long way. What you see in this video is more than music—it’s a year of patience, perseverance, practice, and the courage to keep going when something is hard.

This is the beauty of Waldorf education: giving children the time and space to struggle, grow, and discover what they are capable of creating.

From a heartbreaking discovery to a call for change.

We are incredibly proud of SWS students Ben and Simeon, who recently discovered an injured juvenile loon while on a family camping trip on Lake Pend Oreille. After rescuing the bird and seeking help, they learned that the loon, whom they named Toonie the Loonie, had suffered severe lead poisoning from fishing sinkers.

What began as a heartbreaking experience has inspired Ben and Simeon to become advocates for local wildlife. They are now working to raise awareness about lead fishing equipment and writing to Idaho politicians about the need for stronger protections.

This is learning that extends far beyond the classroom—developing compassion, asking difficult questions, and finding the courage to advocate for change.
