Building Character, One Block at a Time

At Valor, good character builds and protects our school culture.

Our Core Value Award System gives students a tangible way to see that truth in action. When students demonstrate exemplary character—living out our core values—they earn a block to add to our growing display.

Throughout the year we build this out, block by block. Each block represents a student who has chosen to bring glory to God, grow in character, lead themselves first, stretch to excellence, or protect the culture.

We are excited to welcome new teacher Hannah Herndon as our Rhetoric 1 Teacher this year! Hannah grew up in Sagle, Idaho. As part of a large, loving Christian family dedicated to homeschooling she flourished in the study of history, literature and civics. Hannah discovered that teaching was her calling through her elementary aide and history teacher roles at two local Christian schools. She is excited to develop her passion for Christian education at Valor by teaching 10th grade rhetoric. Her goal is to share the knowledge of history as the story of God’s work with mankind, and to teach students the use of rhetoric to share truth in the public square. She is currently enrolled in Grand Canyon University to become a history teacher. Hannah attends Kootenai Community Church with her family and friends. Outside of school, she enjoys hiking, cooking, and playing music with her sisters. Welcome to Valor, Hannah!

Valor Girls Show Progress on the Road Against Mullan
The Valor girls hit the road last night, traveling to Mullan to take on the varsity Tigers.

Senior captains Adah Beck and Avery Humble looked to set the tone early for the Royals. The first set was a back-and-forth battle, with both teams trading points. The Tigers eventually took control late in the set and squeaked out a 25–22 victory.

The second set featured some impressive play from the Royals. Captain Adah Beck did a great job controlling the ball from the setter position, while Emily Bickish and Emily Babcock delivered some impressive swings at the net. The Tigers, however, found their rhythm and took the second set with relative ease.

The Royals came out with renewed energy in the third set, making adjustments and putting together some impressive rallies. Once again, their efforts came up just short, but the team showed tremendous progress and growth compared to previous seasons.

The Royals will be back on the road tonight, traveling to Clark Fork for their first JV match of the season and the varsity team's third game.

JV: 5:30 PM

Varsity: 7:00 PM
