National FCCLA Week, held annually during the second full week of February, is a national celebration that unites Members, Advisers, alumni, and supporters in honoring and promoting the extraordinary impact of Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA). FCCLA Week showcases how student leaders across the country are preparing to thrive in their futures through service, education, and career development.

To conclude the celebration, our FCCLA Culinary Hawks treated faculty and administrators to a series of gourmet meals.

The team hosted a "Brunch for Lunch" for staff, followed by an impressive Administrator Luncheon featuring chicken, shrimp, and steak hibachi served in pineapple bowls. The menu was rounded out with Philly cheesesteak egg rolls, pork dumplings, and Strawberry Biscoff cupcakes with salted caramel frosting.

It was a delicious FCCLA week and we appreciate FCCLA Culinary Advisor, Chef Karen David, for guiding these future chefs!

As the only Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO) that directly prepares students for careers that support families, FCCLA plays a vital role in strengthening homes, schools, and communities nationwide. FCCLA Week is a time to elevate that mission, spotlight how Family and Consumer Sciences education changes lives, and invite others to become part of a movement that develops confident, capable leaders.

To celebrate FCCLA Week, on Tuesday, our FCCLA Early Childhood Chapter donated books and read to the classrooms at Ridge Road Primary.

On Wednesday, February 4th, the WCHS SkillsUSA, Heavy Equipment Operator, and Mrs. May's Early Childhood Education Students visited the Georgia State Capitol. Students met with Representative Mack Jackson and several other state Senators and Representatives. Mr. Jackson explained the duties and responsibilities of members of the House of Representatives and answered student questions.
Students also met with Mr. David Moellering of the Georgia Highway Contractors Association. Mr. Moellering discussed the role of lobbyists in the legislative process and how everyone works together to build better roads for Georgia.
Students enjoyed visiting the State Capitol and learning more about State Government!

Last week, the WCHS Heavy Equipment Operator Class program participated in the 2nd annual State Heavy Equipment Operator Championship sponsored by the Georgia Highway Contractors Association. This year's event was held at Toombs County High School in Lyons, GA, on December 8th and 9th.

Students from each high school's Heavy Equipment Operator program in Georgia competed in Excavator Operations, Bulldozer Operations, and a team competition with their teacher.

Wyatt Baucom and Kris de la Cruz Hernandez represented Washington County at this event . Wyatt competed in Excavator Operations, and Kris competed in Bulldozer Operations.

Help us in congratulating these two competitors for their outstanding work! And Congratulations to Kris for placing 3rd in the State Championship for Bulldozer!

Our SkillsUSA members attended the Augusta Skills Challenge yesterday, representing our school with pride! They took part in a range of competitions and achieved considerable success!

In particular, Wyatt Baucom and Zaden Reese were victorious in Heavy Equipment, and Alia Jones won the Masonry challenge.

Other competitors who showcased their skills were Aiden Pounds (Electrical), Brayden Wood (Plumbing), Pablo Roblro-Zynun and Chris Hernandez (Carpentry), and John Roberts (Welding).

Our Heavy Equipment Instructor, Mr. Walraven, serves as Technical Chair for the HEO competition!

Congratulations to all competitors on their accomplishments!
Great work to our SkillsUSA Advisors Mr. David Earl and Mr. Jon Walraven for training this group of successful competitors! We look forward to great things with SkillsUSA members!

We are incredibly proud of our Culinary Hawks after a successful two-day Fall Leadership Conference! Every one of our 11 students showed their dedication by passing the Statesman Exam!

Top Competitors:
Malory George made 6th Place in the Preserve it, Serve it (Fruit) class with her "Spiced Apple Jalapeño Pie Jam".

Kamille Fort made 4th place in the Preserve it, Serve it (Vegetable) class with her "Pickled Yellow Squash w/Vidalia Onions & Jalapeños"

Congratulations to Elaya Tillman for competing in the Cupcake competition, and Kailey Fort & Christiona May for their great Membership Display.

We are crossing our fingers for A' Riya Hurst and Cassidy Battle's Grilled Cheese Pop-Up Business plan. We will know next week if they made it to the State Conference in March as one of the Top 8 Teams in Georgia!

Washington County High School SkillsUSA students competed in the AGC SkillsUSA Challenge in Statesboro on Wednesday.

Students spent the day competing in hands-on skills competitions such as Plumbing, Carpentry, Blueprint Reading and Heavy Equipment Operations.

A big congratulations goes to Aiden Pounds for placing Second Overall in Electrical Wiring. Aiden walked away with a rolling Milwaukee Tools Toolbox!

These competitors are looking forward to the AGC SkillsUSA East Division Challenge in Augusta next Thursday, November 20th.

Good job to all our competitors!
