Happy day after Halloween!!
Now that the kiddos are done trick or treating we need to know, do you instill the "parent tax" on your kids candy? If so, which is your go to candy that goes missing out of their trick or treat bags?

The FUSD Community Ed team would like to take a moment to thank everyone who attended our annual Hoot Night event last night. We had record numbers of people in attendance.

For the first time in the history of this event, due to several unfortunate incidents we had to make the decision to call the event early. Please understand that there is a TON of behind the scenes work between not only our department but our community partners and making this decision was not an easy one. Our main goal is to create a welcoming event for our community to attend and enjoy themselves. Last night there was some concern that the environment was becoming unsafe. We would not want to do anything to jeopardize the safety of our community and felt this was the best decision.

While we understand this was frustrating for those in attendance who did not get to enjoy the event in it's entirety it was also frustrating for all of us who have put in countless hours for this event.

Thank you to everyone who continues to support our amazing events.

The results from our Annual Penny Drive are IN!!!!

This year our district raised $8086.39!!! This has been our best year yet.

We had a lot of help from our community partners. Special shout out goes to: The Geo Group for donating $400, Liz Aguilar State Farm for donating $209.51, Belva’s Real Estate for donating $134.23. And a GIANT SHOUT OUT goes to The Industrial Company for donating $545.06 and their parent company for matching their employee donations with an additional $600. Other local businesses helped out with putting up jars in their businesses and collected coins as well (Warrior Nutrition, The Irish Cowboy, Sweet P’s, A&M, Your Behind BBQ, PCSO, Coolidge-Florence Elks and Core Civic ($198.50).

Our third place school is Walker Butte with an impressive $911.89 raised.
Our second place school is Magma Ranch with an amazing total of $971.92…this amount is TEN TIMES more than they raised last year!
And our first place school is our reigning champion, COPPER BASIN!!!!! They brought in a remarkable amount of $1586.74.

Our top classes were:
Third place: $205.40 Darrow (3rd Grade) at Anthem

We are so excited to get all of the items ordered and dropped off to Banner Children’s Hospital and Phoenix Children’s Hospital.

Thank you to everyone who continues to support this event and make it an amazing one year after year.

An extra shout out to Fox 10 news for coming out to Copper Basin and highlighting our event. We are hoping they will do a follow up story when we deliver the games. Here’s the link in case you missed the segment.

Today we received an AMAZING donation for our Penny Drive. TIC reached out to us earlier this year and asked how they could get involved and support our mission of giving back. They agreed to help out with the Penny Drive and said they'd put out some jars for their staff to donate.

Today, Tina brought us the jar of money raised. She shocked us by sharing that the company was going to match the employee's donations.

Imagine our surprise when the total donated by them was $1180!!!

Building relationships and working together is what it's all about!
