Poston Butte is a comprehensive four-year public high school enrolling 1750 students in grades 9 through 12. Poston Butte is accredited by the North Central Association of Secondary Schools and holds membership in the College Board and the National Association for College Admission Counseling. Curriculum
The academic program is organized on a standard six (6) classes per day (60 minutes ea.), providing three (3) credits per semester, plus enrichment or remedial class (30 minutes daily). Six Credits can be accomplished each school year during the regular daily schedule. AP courses are offered in Calculus, English 11 and 12, Chemistry, Biology, US History, Government and Spanish. Pre-AP courses are offered in Geometry, Algebra II , Pre-Calculus, English 9 and 10, Biology, Chemistry, World History and Geography and Spanish. Career and Technical Classes (CTE) offer sophomores through seniors, Culinary Arts, Hospitality, Restaurant management, Multi-Year Multi-Level Programs, Business Operations, Media Technology, Future Teachers, Applied Bio, and Engineering. Juniors and/or Seniors are offered the opportunity to enroll in Central Arizona Valley Institute of Technology (CAVIT), which offers students career focused training including state certification and college credit in twelve (12) unique disciplines. Early college enrollment is offered during high school through Central Arizona Community College (CAC) at no tuition once students have completed their sophomore year in high school. Limited classes are offered on campus after school or at a branch campus (less than 5 miles away).
