“The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of deep darkness a light has dawned!” (Isaiah 9:2-6)

The color for the season of Advent is blue because it symbolizes hope, representing the pre-dawn sky before the light of Christmas arrives. The paraments that adorn our sanctuary are blue! The candles are blue! My stole is blue! The trim on the outside of our beautiful sanctuary is blue! The signboard is blue! The ocean is blue! The skies are blue! Our new logo is blue! All are signs and symbols of the hope of Jesus’ impending arrival among us!

I’d like to call your attention to two special celebrations here at GSLC over the Advent season that you don’t want to miss!

• Sunday, December 7, 9:30am – Our Annual Preschool Christmas Program! We gather with our delightful preschool children as they lead us in song and the tradition of the decoration of the Chrismon tree!

• Wednesday, December 24, 6pm – Our Christmas Eve Candlelight Service! This is the night when the Christ candle is lit, and we gather to celebrate our Lord’s coming with festive worship, featuring special music!

Advent is a precious, short season, four Sundays in all, and at each worship service we will light a different candle on the Advent Wreath, the first one being the candle of hope! So, please join us here each Sunday at 9:30am as we prepare with joyful hearts for the coming of Jesus – the “great light” of the world!
