NY Learning Center offers what some parents have called a 5 star service. This incluyes goals addressing the following; Life Skills - hygiene, safety, money skills, transportation, shoe tying, dressing, grooming, etc. Social Skills - friendships, boundaries, the danger of strangers, emotions, etc. Communication Skills - sign language is highly emphasized, picture symbols if necessary, vocabulary d

evelopment, choice making, conversation skills, etc. Appropriate Behavior - teaching appropriate ways to behave while meeting the students needs within the home, school and community Community Involvement - community outings, field trips, community events, malls, movie theaters, parks, bowling etc. NY Learning Center has also created resource binders over the years to help educate families, and also better themselves for their families as a whole. We allow parents to use our computers, printers, telephones, and fax machine when needed. We also provide mini training sessions on how to navigate the internet, use a fax machine, and print out documents. Since NY Learning Center is a community based program we have become close and familiar with other services families may need such as dental office referrals, health insurance referrals, help with immigration questions, medical, social security, healthy families, cal-works, ect.
