4 competitors + 𝟭6 𝗺𝗲𝗱𝗮𝗹𝘀!🥇🥈🥉

Congrats to Theo, Chase, Dominic and Sifu So for their outstanding performance in the World Wushu Open Championship held in Santa Clara! Previously known as the Golden State World Wushu Championship, this event is a qualifier for the International World Kungfu Championships held every two years in Emeishan, China, where the ‘young old pros’— the Wong Bros.—participated in last year.

Hours of delay at yesterday’s event could not deter these dragons from putting on a stellar performance. By age groups, Theo took home Silver in the Single Staff, and Gold in the Hand Form. Chase took home Bronze in Three Section Staff, Silver in Hand Form and Staff, and Gold in Single Sword Form. Dominic took Bronze in Staff, Silver in Sword and Gold in both Hand and Three Section Staff.

Sifu So, who we should probably dub The Energizer (he just keeps going… and going…), took home six medals! Silver in Quan Dao and Soft Weapon, and Gold in Hand, Sword, Short Weapon, and Staff!

We have fantastic news! 🎉 September 1st, 2026 marks the official birth of Master Godoy's very own school: Flying Dragon Kung Fu Academy 🐉!

The location and class schedule on 43rd Ave will stay exactly the same, and all active memberships will be honored, so nothing changes for you day to day. The school will continue in the Choy Lay Fut style, with some exciting possibilities on the horizon for the curriculum.

Stay tuned for exciting new updates, including a vote for our new official logo and some events you won't want to miss. This is just the beginning! 🤜🫷

🏆Congratulations to all the students from One Tribe, San Francisco, and San Mateo for their powerful performance in today's black belt testing! 👏👏👏
The San Mateo school was happy to get their turn hosting our friends from the various schools. Special shout out to all the moms and dads that "rolled up their sleeves" and got down on the mat to help the group push through the final (and grueling) conditioning portion of the test! 👊 What a great kung fu family!

🦁 A unique feature of traditional kung fu schools is the opportunity to train as lion dance performers.
🥋 Advanced lion dance moves require physical stamina, coordination and strength, which kung fu students know all about!
🥁 For those rhythmically inclined, you can also train to be part of the music troupe!
🥬 Learn more about the history, different types, and modern use of lion dancing by attending the upcoming lion dance seminars!
