It's here! My first single from my first solo album, Simplicidade. I share with you, Carinhoso.
One of the most beloved songs in the entire Brazilian songbook - recorded by the greats Getz, Gilberto, Bebel... I didn't choose it for the legacy. I chose it because it resonated so much that I could not, not record it.
For most people, Carinhoso is a love song. And on the surface, it is - it means "tenderly," an expression that tells someone: stay close, my love, stay dear to me.
But that's not what I've always heard in it.
For me, Carinhoso stopped being a love song to another person. It became a song about the version of you that existed before the world told you who to be - the one you still carry inside, the one you've been quietly missing for years. A song that's tender toward that version of you.
