“A window into deep history. Aside from the beautiful, crystal-clear 72-degree water, what makes Spring Lake incredible is its depth of history. It’s considered one of the oldest continuously inhabited sites in North America, with human history going back over 11,500 years. Walking the boardwalk feels like stepping over an ancient time capsule. Truly a special place. Thanks to TXST for their work and the city of San Marcos for keeping this ancient treasure preserved.”

Planning to watch the start of the 63rd Annual Texas Water Safari?
Racers begin their legendary 260-mile trek to the Texas coast at 9 a.m. Friday, June 12, at Spring Lake, with great viewing spots along the San Marcos River from Spring Lake to Rio Vista City Park.
As you cheer them on, please help protect the river that makes this tradition possible: stay in designated viewing areas and avoid walking or standing on vegetated riverbanks. Those plants play an important role in protecting the river’s riparian corridor! 🌿💪
Watching from Spring Lake? Park at Bobcat Stadium and walk to the Meadows Center.
Use the maps below to find a good spot to watch, and follow the Texas Water Safari page for race updates, or visit texaswatersafari.org.

"A must-do experience when passing thru the area! Glass-bottom boat ride is about 30 minutes, and you can ask any questions you want. The staff is extremely friendly. After the tour, make sure to check out the small aquarium on the 1st floor and then take the elevator up to the 3rd floor to go on the rooftop for a great view!"
