Kappa Delta Pi is an international honor society in education that recognizes academic excellence and provides ongoing professional development to its members. Founded in 1911 at the University of Illinois, the organization currently has more than 35,000 members and 665 chapters worldwide. The membership is comprised of pre-service and in-service teachers. The Eta Zeta Chapter at Texas State University was chartered in 1951 and currently has more than 350 active members. Each semester, KDP members participate in a variety of professional development opportunities and service projects. In 2007, 2009, 2011, 2013, and 2015 the Eta Zeta Chapter received from its national office the Achieving Chapter Excellence (ACE) Award for the exemplary programming that the chapter provided during the biennium.
